the power supply says "iPower" which is the fancy one. no idea if it really makes a difference but it makes me sleep better.

iPower is times quieter in comparison to regular SMPS units, so defo it doesn't hurt to have one :)

2. Will void my warranty if I open the amplifier up and hot glue the buttons to the switches? The rattling is pretty off putting.

Yes.

1. How do I tell if I have the good power supply? I paid the $169 and it should have been one of the first units as advertised but it just looks like a regular wall wart.

If it has iPower on it, you're good!

Mine just showed up in the mail. It is one heavy amp! definitely should solve my problem of pulling my amplifiers off my desk.

Seat of the pants this puts out a lot more power than my magni does

Using with 6xx

It doesn't seem to like my BTR5, but to be fair a few of my amps don't. So I'm looking forward to trying it on my modi, or my absolute favorite source of all time: my old iPod photo.

I love the aesthetics I think this might become the amplifier in my living room as I convert it to mid mod.

I'm not sure I noticed much of a volume change when switching between modes. it does feel like it goes out of phase when 3D is on, so I can see how a volume change may be perceptible there. So I quickly learned I like it with the effects off anyway

But I have two questions:
1. How do I tell if I have the good power supply? I paid the $169 and it should have been one of the first units as advertised but it just looks like a regular wall wart.

2. Will void my warranty if I open the amplifier up and hot glue the buttons to the switches? The rattling is pretty off putting.
I have one arriving Monday. Can you elaborate on the rattling? If it sounds like a dealbreaker, I’ll return.

Hi I noticed the rattle as soon as I lifted the Zen Can out of the box. Once it’s stationary there is no rattling and I don’t believe it affects the sound performance of the unit. The same issue is present with the Drop version seen at 3.19 of this review:

This is my experience as well. You will notice some play when you press the buttons. but again i have little need to press the buttons once everything is set up.

Hey guys quick question, if I have a balanced XLR cable and want to use balanced input on the Zen Can I would need to get a 4 pin XLR female to 4.4mm adapter right?

I found this one on amazon https://www.amazon.com/Female-Balanced-Headphone-Silver-Adapter/dp/B082Y6TQLX

However Im from europe, so I would have to pay customs and other fees ordering from NA.

Ive been looking around but I cant really seem to find any cables from Europe that provides this, would appreciate if someone could help me out.

Cheers

Most of the balanced dac is 3pin dual XLR, I haven't seen single 4pin XLR... Just make sure output type from what you are trying to connect.

Amazon U.S. will charge $18.50 extra for Tax+Shipping. You won't have to pay any extra when it arrives in Europe.
$23.00+18.50=$41.50

If it sounds like a dealbreaker, I’ll return.

Buttons in the product have some play to them, but are perfectly usable. This rattling sensation isn't related in any way to sound performance.

hello @iFi audio if I am going to stack up DAC & CAN and use interconnect cable, what would be the best length of 4.4 to 4.4 BAL from tip to tip?
will 18cm is enough?

Please use a cable as long as it needs to be to stack your products. It's more about your convenience and having order in cables more than anything else really :)

Ah okay. As long as the pins are correct, it should be fine. Looks like on Amazon link has the pin diagram so you can find out perriapt cable to figure them out.

Balanced 4.4mm Pentaconn sockets in our ZEN range are wired accordingly to the Sony standard.
