great cheap headphone poll

From the three main options on your poll, I'd go with either the SR-60 or the PortaPro.

Given the option for 'other', I'd say the KSC-75 is a no brainer, and a must buy or at least must try.

Other.

I've owned all of the phones in the list, as well as many other <$100 phones.

By far the best all around phones (of all the phones I have owned) in that price range/category are the Alessandro MS-1s and the Denon D1000s. I could sell all of my other gear and keep only the MS-1s and Denon D1000s and live happily ever after.

Now if you started a <$50 category, then things would obviously be different. That's when the KOSS phones would shine. But as the poll stands, for headphones under $100, the KOSS and Senn phones don't stand a chance against the MS-1s or D1000s IMO. If I were forced to pick strictly from your list, then the SR-60s win without a doubt.

The SR-60 is the best on the list, but I think the Sony MDR-V6 is a contender, too. It has been around for years and still sounds good, especially for the price.

I voted for the Porta Pros because I think they are the best "cheap" headphone. I suppose the SR60s are better, but you can get two Porta Pros for the same price, so it's not a fair comparison. My wife owns the PX100s, and they are almost a perfect match for the Porta Pros in terms of quality/price ratio. I give the nod to the Porta Pros because I like the fit for how I use them.

I picked the PX100s over the Grados only because the SR60s I had, and my brother had, broke down fast and frequently. For pure sound the SR60s are probably the best cheap phone I have had or heard.

Right on! but for me, flat pads are a must for any grados, so the ms1 and sr60 dont wind up being quite as cheap. still a great deal though. and i agree, i could live happily with them.

but honestly, I have been living happily with modified ksc75's for over a month now. For 50 bucks or so, they really are incredible. i actually think they have a better tonal balance than 95% of the headphones out there, at least. and that includes some cans that really break the bank...

I voted other, I have owned the SR 60's and find the Equation Audio RP-21 to be more charming, more accurate and ,even though a closed design, spacious with great head space.
