Is Graham Slee Solo Intro a better amplifier than Creek OBH-21 SE ? I would prefer the Creek because it's cheaper. Unless the Solo Intro is way above the Creek.

I can't give you an answer to your actual question. Since you live in Australia though, I thought I would tell you that I am not terribly impressed with the Creek distribution network in this country. I would buy a Graham Slee even if it did not sound as good as the Creek. That said, I imagine the Slee would be a lot better anyway. Creeks have never really roused much enthusiasm here at head-fi.

I think the Graham Slee would be better, but also more clinical/unforgiving. In other words, ensure your source on the one end, and headphones on the other end, match up. The nice thing with the Slee is that at a later stage you can also add the PSU1 which I believe makes a big difference.

Not that I have heard the Graham Slee Solo, but for the money to land this
headphone amp in Australia, I would have thought that the Meier Corda Opera - Analog would have been a better choice ?

I would suggest a PM to Zorander. He has a Graeme Slee Solo and a Creek OBH-21 I believe.

cheers

The Solo is easily superior to OBH-21. Dynamics, details (esp. the micro-details), bass texture, imaging and power are easily superior on the GS. The Solo also seems to work better with more diverse range of phones and its current-driven output is a boon if you are constantly switching between phones of different impedances.

The Creek is a great unit too (I personally find it better than the Meier Headfive and on-par with the Glite w/ DPS) but it is still no match to the Solo.

HIHs. Cheers!

Edit: Mine uses the PSU1.

I just forked out the money to ship a Solo over here and couldn't be happier! $1066 AU is a lot (for me) to spend on an amp alone (my whole previous rig was about $500), but it's worth every cent.

Once a decent source is in place. Without that it's kind of a waste.

I haven't heard the Creek, but it would have to be absolutely incredible to beat the Solo. My GS is a serious piece of amplification, and it sure wakes my Senn HD-650 up!

Again, let me stress, with a good source.

graham slee stated that :
The "green" Solo performs like the Solo 2007/PSU1 at £475.00 GBP. It is a give-away at £245 GBP

so why buy a dps seperatly?

Yeah , I noticed that as well Minivan . I've been very tempted by the ''green'' myself but was just curious to know if this version could be taken to another level perhaps if it was to be used with a PSU1. Think I'll probably go ahead with an order anyway....... I think Sennheiser have actually used the Graham Slee when demonstrating their cans and I've certainly never read anything but praise for this amp coupled with 600/650.

Not according to Slee, I have a Green Solo on the way as well as the new Vogager Portable he is about to introduce. Hope to be able to post at the end of August or early september (following the 250 to 400 hours of burn in).
