My SR-325is just came in today too. I order the SR-325is to replace the SR-80i but at the moment it does not sound that much better than SR-80i. When giving the bowl pads to the SR-80i, they both sound very similar with the tiniest edge going to the SR-325is. To be fair the SR-325is has only about 45min to 1 hr on it where as the SR80i as close to 80-100 hrs. Hopefully the sound of the SR-325is will improve. I'm also only using it with a Marantz AV receiver at the moment. What would be a decent cheap amp for the SR-325is that is under $100?

Listen to me! I promise they will improve! Burn-in is VITAL to these phones. You'll notice big improvement after 100 hours; even more after a 100 more. Mosthigh end headphones sound like shi- without any burn-in.

What does burning in do exactly and how would i do it? I really don't want to listen to 100 hours + of music in order to get them to sound better.

b0oMer, unfortunately with most high-end headphones you get, burn-in is almost always necessary. When my Shure SRH840's come in the mail on tuesday, I'm going to hook them up to my old 30 GB iPod, and leave them in the laundry room, playing continuously on a repeat track, for about 4 to 5 days straight. I may listen in between a few times to satisfy my curiosity.

I'm not very knowledgeable in the WHY aspect, I just know that is it necessary. And it makes all the difference in the world. Every pair of high-end headphones I have owned sounded semi-shi*ty when I first listened to them. After hours of burn-in, it was like magic.

Forget what I said above about the SR-325is sounding like the SR-80i. After letting the SR-325is burn-in for 25-30ish hrs and finally putting it on again they so different from one another, with the 325is sound a lot better.

Get the SR225i's; they're widely considered better value, and aren't as shrill in the top end surprisingly.

What store? Was it Bay Bloor Radio? If not, I'd like to know, since I'm going to Toronto soon, and knowing of any headphone place would be nice.

American Sound on Yonge St. is a great store. Much better priced than BBR.

Yeah, I've been there, they had some AKG, Grado and Sennheisers. They also let you try them out, which is pretty cool.

Unfortunately, the only amp I saw is that Grado one, but maybe you can bring your own.

Woah, that's really cheap. I hope I can get a deal as cheap as that as well. I'm interested in these but don't have much cash to burn...

hopefully you're gonna listen to 100+ hours of music anyway over the time you have your headphones. you could always just let them play music overnight when you're not listening, but I like to just listen to the headphones and burn them in with actual use anyway. They'll still sound good, promise.
