I've noticed this since day one, when I first started playing my SR-80's, that the bass gets better as these babies burn-in more. Now I basically swear that it's true.

The first day I hear these, the bass was very minimal, and I wished I had my KSC-50's bass. Of course, the rest of the sound was an unbelievable improvement, so I obviously kept listening to them. But recently I've realized there really IS a lot more bass than there used to be. The whole sound is a heck of a lot fuller than it used to be, which in comparison was tinnier and emptier. Bass is just filling in a lot better than it used to be, and I'm really loving it. As I listen to old stuff that I haven't listened to in quite a long time, the difference is definitely there!

Well, I'm a believer. Can't imagine what an amp will do on top of this.

This should give Mike Scarpitti a field day

Congrats on your find...break in is subjective and although it can be explained scientifically, there are non-believers here. Which isnt a bad thing...we need balance.

Lets end this duscussion here before it degenerates into another war with WMD's being thrown around from either side...

So it's not just in my head?? I'm still wondering if it's placebo. Still...I really think there's a difference here.

Didn't know the topic was so hot...close er up if you want to, mods.

I don't know if it would go for all headphones (especially not canalphones) but for regular medium-to-full sized cans, I don't see why burn-in is so hard to believe. They are speakers that move-- as they move more, the diaphragms stretch, which changes their sound slightly. But then again, I've also listened to headphones that don't seem to change at all after being burned in. May depend on the materials that the headphones, diaphrams, etc. are made of.

Sorry to add to the endless burn-in topic that's been debated ad nauseum...

Get some flat pads and they'll sound even bassier.

Guys please lay-off on the burn-in talk, or you know who will appear.

I don't know, appar, I've never believed it could make that much of a difference, but I guess it's real. All right, this is definitely getting old already. cya.
