I thought that too but when I got a chance to listen to SR-225's, K701's had to go. K701 sounds a bit congested when feed with intensive metal. Especially guitars are starting to compress and distort.
Pick your Grado, any Grado. I have a pair of SR 325i's and love how they sound with metal, rock, punk, blues, alternative. If you are on a budget, try the SR-80's. Many think that the SR-225's are the one's to buy (best buy for the lolly). I think you'd be happy with any Grado.
