on the recommendations of many here i ordered some sets of the sennheiser yellow pads for my sr125. yes they are more comfortable, but after a couple weeks i found myself using the grados less and less.

today i put the bowl pads back on and so far i prefer the bowl pads (sound-wide), although if you look at this picture of my grados you can see that i have regular foamies with the center cut out undreneath, for comfort and to tame the treble a bit.

i'll probably switch back again next week to confirm. anyone else prefer the bowl pads?

I'll vote for the bowls. At first they were uncomfortable, but after properly adjusting the band and a couple of weeks of good wearing, the bowls feel fine on my SR-225. I use them at work and home with the RA-1.

I hated the comfort of the bowls, but after chopping them I found a good compromise. Not as unacceptably uncomfortable, the bowl sonics more or less preserved, arguably better dynamics. Just slice the bowls at the line where the glue ends. vwap's pads are the best ready-made alternative, but I preferred the chopped bowls, possibly just for feel.
