The new box looks quite nice. I might get one for my father even though he has SR80s. He keeps them in the box and treats them like royalty!

The story is that they were donated along with two other pairs to the Charlotte meet yesterday. I bid on these at the silent auction. After I won, I asked Joe Grado if he kindly would autograph them.

Little did I find out until later that night about the Grado announcement. This morning, I looked closely at the unopened box and noticed the beveled cups that I had been looking at the night before on grado labs website. Quick check with google images showed me that they were the 225i. The box looks just like any other grado pizza box with the same writings, it did not have any indication other then the clear see through panel.

I've owned some Grado SR-60 before that were heavily modded and haven't heard any other SR-225. I bought them based on reviews to use for testing the aikido amplifier I'm still assembling. All I can say is that they sound good to me and that this cable is about the thickness of a normal cheap power cable (its thicker then any stock cable I've ever seen.

Hope it is four conductors, that might make for an easy balanced conversion later.

I ordered some SR80s from Musicdirect over the weekend and, considering that the i's have been reported to have been shipping since December, I'm curious as to what version I'm going to get. I'm assuming that because it was at the sale price it'll be the old ones, which I'm kind of glad of actually. It's shallow, but I much prefer the smaller profile that they used in the past.

Any extra insight as to which will be shipping?

I'd like to see some pictures of the newer models on a person's head. I know my 325i cups are a little on the big side and stick out a lot on the sides of my head. I'm just wondering if it would look just as goofy with the 60i, 80i, 125i, 225i since many people wear these Grado's out on the streets.

More News! In the coming months we also plan on introducing our new flagship Professional Series of headphones along with two models of in ear phones. The good news is that with all these changes They will be able to continue to offer the high standard of product that people have come to expect from Grado.
