It's either one or the other. If you had to choose one of the 2. Money not the issue. How would anyone who experienced both headphones compare the 2?

The 125 is not Grados best effort. Some consider it the brightest of the Grados.

If its too much of a stretch for the 225 ( $$ ) , stick with the SR-80.

I own the SR-125 and had the SR-80's for about 2 weeks. I'd stick with the SR-80. The termination is a little more convenient unless you only have 1/4" jacks. In terms of sound, I didn't really hear much of a difference.

When I tested the 80 against the 125, there was no doubt in my mind that the 125 was superior. I also question allegations that it is the brightest Grado, because I also tested a 325i at the same time, and the 325i was far brighter.

Would an MS-1 be cheaper than the 125, though? If so, then it might be a reasonable option. Otherwise a good deal on a 125 is worth taking.

Good point, I forgot about Grados regional pricing structure, I suggested the MS1 as it is cheaper here in Europe than the SR-60 is.

It's depends on how you feel about highs, but the SR225 is the first can of the traditional line that calms those a little and bring them into balance. The MS1 is the first of either line. I think most would be happier with the MS1 unless you want a more aggressive highs presence. I put the MS1 about equally between the SR80 and SR225. I place the SR125 below that.
