Well you could of course search around a little.

The MS-1s are a tamed Grado. Some will say a boring Grado however. They are more neutral than the SR80s. Instead of being aggressive like the Grados (SR80 is the most aggressive SR AFAIK) they are more smooth. To me, the SR80s are like an EQ'ed MS-1.

The MS-1's are a much better headphone than the SR-80's, IMO. I always had to use flat pads with them because they were too bright otherwise. The MS-1's sound very nice and balanced (good bass, too) even with bowls... one of the best value headphones I've ever heard. I think you'll love them.

Neither... they've got enough bass for rock but not for hip-hop, IMO. Denons on the other hand...

Thanks. I've done my research and I have noticed a few members say they like these two headphones for hip hop, but very few. I'd like to try the Denon 2000 but I dont want to spend that much right now. I really wanted to get a taste for the grado sound, but I guess its not for me. At least not right now.

Or get some HF-1's and a pair of flat pads... that brings up the bass to a comfortable level for me.
