so people say theyre good sound,b ut bad at isolation and arent so comfy.........

is there a way to make them isolating? or what

i see people add new pads to them and stuff, is that what changes the isolating capabilities?

grado is very comfortable to me. and if it not, simpy bend the headband outward. the tock earpads are fine for me too.

as for isolation no. it simply need to push air to make good sound. if you try to cover it up the sound will be completely crap.

and the replacement earpads only effect the sound coming to your ears, it won't effect how loud the sound going out the opposite side.

and yes it let all enviroment noises in too.

Unless you need super isolation, I'd recommend the Koss ksc-75 clip-ons ($20 shipped fro amazon.com) as a portable phone. They're open, meaning they leak some sound in and out (but nowhere near as much as grados though).

kinda embarassed to say: i dont like those kinds, or earbuds, almost no earbuds fit my ear and stay in

only ones are fontopias and i keep losing the small inserts (the only kind that fit) and so i want something fixed

i just want a pair of clams or whatever theyre called

so i just need something that sounds good, can be LOUD, inexpensive, and isolates decently (when i keep the volume low)

oh and i like a thicker cord, and i think i can just insulate aftermarkey anyways.

and when theres only one cord thats amazing, even though thats not always aviailable

I can think of the Senn HD25-1. They can go REALLY loud without distortion, the sounds is quite good for portable use, isolation is nice, but ... seems not inexpensive ...

about the sound, it is a phone that can give bass impact and with nice detail. Mids is quite neutral I would say. The downside is that the highs is quite shrill to me, sibilance is quite serious. Cable upgrading can improve the sound but the sound signature remains.

I love my SR60's, I just got them and have been busy trying to burn them in. The only thing is the head band, I dont think theres anything I can do to make them more comfy, I'm pretty sure my head is pointed, maybe I could mount them in a traffic cone?
