They are the one headphone I will never part with. Even when you have moved on to a more exp Grado they are still a sound worth having around. Best rock and rock headphone.

Alright! My turn here!! The "i"!

Actually...ready for this? There IS no "i"!!

Huh?

The "Music Series Two" is the original name and the current and only official name for what we call the "MS2i"!!

Grado has a "i" on their SR-325i since they made a change to the driver when they improved it. They also added the new larger gold housing which changed the looks, but didn't effectively change the sound.

Alessandro ended up with the same larger housing since the MS2 is built off the SR-325i, but they didn't feel a need to change the driver. So the MS2 remained the same old MS2 but just looked different. What happen though was a lot of folks were left wondering if the MS2 sounded different since it did get a new housing and nobody was sure if the driver was also changed. So while a few folks were getting the new one and comparing it to the old one, they had to come up with a way to tell them apart while writing about them. The first new name the MS2 picked up was "Fatboy" and it actually stuck for a while. But that was a lot of keystrokes to type in all the time, so the idea came up to simply add the "i" to MS2 since it was working quite well for Grado with the SR-325i. And the new Music Series Two has been the MS2i here in the forums ever since!

...and you can see a photo of the original "Frankenstein Peg" MS2 in the Alessandro web site. They haven't updated their photo since the new style had been released in late '04!

I just ordered my sr60 from TTVJ. The sr60 was my introduction to head-fi, and hi-fi audio, and since then they have been sold and rebought, sold and rebought - mostly for "headphone upgrades". They have now been rebought and on the way, because I miss that crisp fun grado sound! One of the best for the $!

I got a SR 80 for $70 (lucky me), and I do deduct that while these are low-end models, they are seriously "fun" headphones to rock out to!

The good folks at Grado wouldn't mind at all if you looked at some Alessandros'! After all; they make both brands!

I guess the main difference between the MS-1 and the SR-60 is that the MS-1 isn't quite as much "fun" as SR-60. Very similar sound of course, but toned down just a bit and perhaps more suited for a larger range of music due to its' slightly more neutral nature. I find that the Alessandros' and the Senns play quite well together!

The Alessandro philosophy is to produce a line of phones that are a bit more neutral and analytical than their Grado brothers and perhaps even more suited for the professional musician....but we know better! They aren't quite neutral enough for that, but they are jolly fun for listening to a fairly wide range of musical styles from rock through light classical.

And they're still proudly marked with "Grado Labs" right on the housings!

You probably would have to luck out on eBay to find them for anything close to $50, and that likely means buying used. New SR-60's are pretty much $69 everywhere you look (that used to be called "fair-traded"--don't know if the term is still used) plus shipping. If you could get them shipped free, you'd have yourself a nice deal!
