Hi guys, I'm considering the Grado SR325i. Learned that Grado cans usually have small soundstage (compare to those of AKG) and less bass. Please, any SR325i owner can advise how SR325i sounds like? How's the treble, bass, soundstage, sound resolution.... etc? What music will SR325i be best with? Pops, jazz, strings, vocals or classical? Thanks!

The 325i does have a really small soundstage . when i listen to music i like to imagine a little stage about 6 inches by 6 inches in front of my nose compared with the football stage soundstage of my k501 and k601.

As for the bass , the 325i has more bass than k501 and k601 , it goes deeper and is way more punchier.

I use my 325i to listen to all music... rock, jazz pop trance/dance .. it's a great all rounder. It's very true to the source , very dynamic ....In fact it's so true to the source you may not like them, if your songs/source is bright you'll know about it.

It has transparency and clarity like no other. Excellent for choral where soundstage is already part of the track and where vocals sucah as treble and bass is predominant.

Maybe I haven't experienced enough high-end headphones to compare, but to me Grado's in general don't sound like they lack bass. You could definitly argue that they have a focus on upper-mids and treble, but I don't think it dominates over the bass in any way. Also, I don't think Grado's fare well with classical music, because their small soundstage's have a tendency to crowd instruments to the point of annoyance, but jazz, rock, and vocal music shine using the 325i's.

1. The SR325 (silver old version) is not as readily available as the SR325i

2. The SR325i sound significantly better than the SR325

If budget allows, get the SR325i over the SR325 any day, they have decent imaging. But they are very detailed and have a nice deep bass that is tight. They are not bright at all (don't confuse airiness with brightness) and I have not heard any form of sibilance even in the hotest recording that I have.

I'd recommend the RS-2 over the 325i. Similar sound but less harsh and fuller mid-range.

i just recently wrestled with the MS2i vs. 325i vs. RS2 question. The 325i won out, though as i didn't hear enough of a difference between the 325i and the RS2 to justify the almost $200 difference between them, and had no way of listening to the MS2i. The 325i sounded great to my ears. The people that find them overly bright must be used to boring ol' senns, straining to hear the highs and what not.

and i just picked up a headfive amp to go with it, can't wait til they arrive!!

I have not heard SR-325i, so I can't comment on them, but after listening to a very effective and comfortable soundstage on my MS2i, I can't imagine that the soundstage on the SR-325i can be THAT tiny!

This thread could cause a number of listeners to shy away from the SR-325i from a soundstage point only! I can't believe they are all that different from my MS2i which have a soundstage not much smaller than my HD600!
