hi all,
some help here please, could someone please explain the differences between the Grado Sr325i and the allesandro ms2s? i have only had the oppertunity to hear the 325 but am seriously interested in how the ms2 would sound. any insight into this would be appreciated.
thanks for all your time.

Hello,

from what i've read around here, there is little (if any) sonic difference between the 'old' ms-2s and the newer ones with the 'fatboy' enclosures. some say that perhaps there's a little more bass with the fatboy enclosures while others say there are no differences.

and extrapolating from zanth's interview with john grado, i would go so far as to say that the drivers from the ms-2 and the ms-2i are very likely identical. the only thing that has changed would be the enclosure to match the current 325i tooling.

to my ears, the 325i has more energetic highs and a midrange that sound a tad more 'shouty' than the ms-2. the ms-2 has a midrange that could be described as being slightly 'dry'. the 325i is far more 'exciting' sounding. there is less midbass and slightly more deep bass on the 325i when compared to the ms-2. the 325i seems to have more top-end extension. i prefer the ms-2 to the 325i, but only marginally.

hmmm, so which one is more musical? i intend on laying around listening to a broad spectrum of music (pink floyd, dire straits, emperor, dream theatre, sonata arctica, beethoven). which one yeilds greater enjoyment to listen to? most of mt music is vastly complex in places, so i need it to be fast and detailed.
thanks
