I just bought a Grado SR-60 from amazon. The only problem is I dont see much of a difference between them and regular headphones. Could this possibly be a knock-off?? I dunno, but I dont see much of a difference in sound quality. I am not trying to flame the Grado line, but I was extremely anxious to get these headphones and now that I have them, I dont see much of a difference.

What "regular headphones" were you using before? Because unless you are using very low quality mp3 or a really crappy source the SR60's should be a dramatic improvement over any headphones the were "included" with something.

Also, I doubt you would get "knock-off's" from Amazon. Do they have the "button" with the model on it? You should be able to find many pictures to compare to.

You may consider a visit to an audiologist. I cant imagine somebody finding SR-60s equal to ibuds even if they are using the semi compressed music on itunes.

I don't get it either. If this is the case, sell the sr60's and stick with the ibuds, you'll save a lot of money !!

It might have more to do with your listening habits. I've encountered people who couldn't hear any difference between earbuds and the HD600, because they weren't paying attention.

If you're just listening as background music while you do other things, the difference won't be too apparent, because your mind isn't picking out all the additional details. Try sitting by yourself in a comfortable spot, put aside all other distractions (turning down the lights is a good idea), and just focus on the music itself. Comparing the different headphones in a quiet, focused setting should bring out the improvement.

I can't explain to you how the SR-60 is worlds better than the iPod bud - you just have to really listen to it.

You shouldnt "see" the difference but hear it.
And Im being rather serious about the check your hearing thing. If you are using purchased tracks from Itunes on a Nano and cant hear a difference between the buds and an SR60 Id be quite concerned about my hearing. Not finding a difference between a good starting into audiophile sound can and a bottom of the barrel bud is frightening.

Well alot of the music is ripped at 249 kb/s.

I think you need to pick out a few or one song that you know by heart. Then do an A/B comparison between the two. I guess it also matters on the type of music you are listening too. May I suggest getting say "Tears in Heaven" by Eric Clapton's Unplugged album. Listening to it with your stock buds. Then listening to it again with the SR-60's. You should be able to notice the drums sound like drums, You can hear Claptops pick pluck the strings, the Bongos sound like the real thing. Also I bet you can tell how many backup singer/s he has. You will notice alot more detail and clarity in the songs.

Maybe you were expecting it to make you blow your pants? I haven't heard the sr60's as I dont want to be drawn into the grado line for the sake of my wallet, but maybe you set your expectations a bit too high. What volume are you listening to them at?
