The glue that connects the cables to the drivers has gone loose. Now the headphones pick up a lot of interference. Has anyone had this problem? And if so, what have they done to fix it. Thanks a bunch.

I am not sure what you mean by glue, since the wires are soldered. Also, headphones ussually don't catch interference, but perhaps you are getting a short circuit or noise. In any case, you can try to send them to Grado for repair. It should be free if they are still under warranty or some 25 bucks if they are not covered. Good luck.

Well I'm looking through the grills o the SR80 and see a gunk of glue still stuck to the plastic black cable inside moving around freely. There's also a black plasticky thing attached to it as well.

The Glue that you see is probably part of what keeps the casing held together (having had mine in bits, i do know that it becomes somewhat brittle, and does fall off in lumps)

As to the black thing you can see on the cable... that, is a cable tie, that is there, so that if you yank the cable... it doesn't snap off of the drive unit... just a bit of protection.. that is supposed to be there...

Hope that helps

Awww crud. Basically....the cable wire can now be easily pushed in and out through the whole, and every time it does so, I can hear noise picked up. It's quite annoying as I DO use these portably, walking around alot.

That is just the way Grado makes their phones lately. Glob of glue stuck on the back of the screen. It is bound to come off eventually, and I guess it becomes more prone to microphonic noise. Fresh from the factory, the cable is stuck to the back of the screen with a glob of glue, eventually it acts as a cable pull stopper.

One possible remedy is to caulk the cord entry of the headphones.

So don't push the wire in and out. I have the SR80, SR125 and SR225 and the cables are "loose" on all of them and I don't have any problems with noise cause by this. And I have never seen the cable glued to the rear screen. I have seen it glued to the entrance of the air chamber, at the inside. If it is a problem, then wrap some electrical tape around the cable below the entrance to the air chamber so it won't move into the hole.

Open them up and change the cord to go out through a smaller hole and that kind of hold on the cord.
(There are four holes on the housing and the original setting from Grado is to let the cord out through the large one)
After I changed the cord to go through a small one, I had no more worries about them snapping.

Did you end up getting the problem solved?
