I assume that the SR-325i will only run for this year considering SR325i is in honour of their 50th anniversary celebrated this year? To continue selling the SR-325i next year would be a bit naff..... is this a "special edition" 'phone with a one year run or is it going to be produced for the unforseeable future?

The Grado website is "vague" to say the least, heck they haven't even uploaded a pic of the new gold coloured SR-325i and still show the alu 325 alongside their description of the new SR-325i.

The headband on my SR-325i "smells" like leather..... is it leather??? If so, they don't mention that anywhere in their literature.... in fact they don't say too much, are the SR-325i sprayed gold??? What's the score?

Mike, my guess, and it's nothing more than a guess, is that is would be appropriate (at least) for Grado to discontinue the gold color after this year is over, at the some point when they've completed a large production run (maybe even before this year is over).

But, and again this is only my guess, the "i" part of the 325i will remain a feature going forward. If "i" represents "improvement", and it would seem that it does based on everyone's comments about how much better the 325i sound relative to the 325, then why would they move backwards with the technology? In other words, you will still be able to get the same product in black or silver, but not gold.

But having said all of that, Grado has surprised me before, so who knows.

Yup. That is indeed a leather headband which I absolutely love. The ear cups are gold anodized aluminum so it won't just rub off.

They have to discontinue the gold after this year. I'm sure they'll keep the same design but with the brushed aluminum colour ala ms2i.

I thought it felt and smelt like leather but why should they (Grado) leave that out of their description of the build quality..... I mean it's not too hard for them to type in a few extra words and upload a photo of the gold SR-325i to their website is it?

Again, it would be an easy enough job for Grado to include this in the description on their website...... it would also be an easy enough job for them to add an "i" onto the end of "SR325" on the plastic decal fixed onto the metal grille.

Would be nice to learn "all" of the above

from Grado but as they can't be arsed describing their products I thank you for taking the time to answer Squeek.

All the best.

I know what you mean. Grado is not all that clear in their website. I have learned what I know through emails, with the exception of the gold for 1 year, that is inferred.

Well, now I own a pair I'll find out what materials are used if it means flying over to NY and absailing through their window

That isn't the gold one's picture on their website?
