I just recieved the Grado SR 225 headphones I ordered off of audioadvisor.com and the left channel keeps cutting out for no apparent reason. I've been checking for a short throughout the cord and near the jack and the drivers, but I can't for the life of me find where the short is coming from. Sometimes if I unplug the phones and plug them back in both channels work, sometimes not. I really didn't expect this from a $200 pair of headphones

I guess I'll ship them back to audio advisor tomorrow and hope they send me a replacement quickly. Until then, I'm can-less since I already sold my SR 80's.

David,

I'm sorry this happened to you. It's one of life's mysteries that the worst things happen to those least deserving. I hope Audio Advisor sends a replacement quickly so you are able to enjoy your music. Good luck.

Thanks for the kind words guys. I've tried a bunch of sources but it seems as though the problem is in the headphones themselves. Just out of curiosity, does anyone have an idea where a short could be that couldnt be cut in and out by moving the cord or jack? With other headphones with these same characteristics I could eventually locate the short by moving the cord while the headphones were plugged in, but this is not the case the channel cuts in and out randomly no matter what I do with the cable.

Have you tried cleaning the plug with alcohol or DeOxit?

Does the 225 come with an adaptor plug?

Since Audio Advisor is very consumer-friendly and will replace the headphones without hassle within the 30 day return period, opening the headphone to work on it (possibly voiding the return) instead of getting a mint replacement would be foolishness.
