Hi,
Well I previously posted a thread with regards to my ears being getting attracated towards Grados. I had so many mixed reviews over GS1000 and quite a few have advised me to go for RS-2s instead. Now that I have filtered it down to RS-2s, I am just wondering would HD595s be preferable over these? I had HD555 for quite sometime before. Please give me your thought about HD595 over RS-2 or RS-2 over HD595.
Your opinion is highly appreciated.
Cheers...........

HD595 doesn't differ from HD555 that much. They both have quite a similar sound signature. If I was you, I'd definitely go for RS-2.

Without a doubt ..... RS-2, no competition.

not a really fair comparison, with HD650 it's another story

The RS-2 and the Hd595 are not in the same league IMO, even though I only heard the RS2 for an hour or so and owned the Hd595 for about 1 year. Another can in the RS-2 price range that you could like is the Audio-Technica ATH-AD2000. It is a merge between the grado sound and the senn sound : forward midrange, tight bass, however with bigger soundstage and less bite in the highs. After having the Hd595 and the AD2000 with the same amp and DAC, I have to say the AT is a higher-version hd595 (they share the same sonic traits, the AT being better in every aspect).

Just to make you even more confused

I found Grado to be comfortable on my head. And I wear glasses from time to time.

I have never worn a Grado high end model, but people always say they would become uncomfortable after couple of hours or so. But I have decided to give them a go.

Like many people said, the RS-2 is in a different price bracket and also, if you've already grown in on the Grado sound, the more reason to stick with it.

So long as you've listened or owned some lower end pairs of Grado headphones such as the SR80's or SR225's, the RS-2's are the way to go.

If you have little experience with Grado's, get a pair of SR225's instead.

My RS-2 with APS v3 re-cable is on the level of my re-cabled HD600 or STAX SR-Lambdas.

The RS-2 are soooo light-weight that I have no comfort problems with them like I had with borrowed 325i. You can always get the ttvj.com flats if you need the comfort but I think the airy soundstage will suffer even more.

Well its a good way to start with SR-225s. But after about 200-300 listening hours I would certainly go for upgrade. I would say its kind of wasting time and money. I am saving up for RS-2s. Thanks a lot for all of your valuable tips so far.
