I have been lurking around the forums for a while and have not found the answer to this question.

Does the Grado SR225 use the same material for the earpads as the Grado SR60?

About a year ago I bought a pair of SR60s the sound of which I loved. Unfortunately the foam used in the earpads did not get along with the skin on my ears. I replaced them with Senn 497, but now have the upgrade bug...

TIA

No, the SR60 and SR225 pads are different. The 60's come with the "Comfy" pads, a softer foam that covers the entire driver. The newer 225's come with the "bowl" pad, which is made of a stiffer foam.

You always have the option of installing the Sennheiser 414 pads. You can mod the pads to resemble the Grado flat pads (which are not in production). Look for "Vwap Pads" under search or Mall-Fi forum for more info. I have a pair of these and they are pretty good with any Grado headphone, and to me just as comfortable as the standard SR-60 pads.
