Hello,

I just recently bought a pair of SR125i's used but the paint is a bit worn out, I was wondering how I can paint the color back? It's just the silver with the text that I want to brush up with.

Also, is it hard to replace the metal with wood? I'm a noob to DIY's and I don't want to ruin them.

Thanks.

If I'm not mistaken, its not metal.  Its a plastic cup.  You can literally just paint on the lettering again with some silver paint and a tiny hobby paintbrush.  You just have to keep a steady hand.

It is a bit of an ordeal to custom make wood cups.

I don't think its all that hard if you know how to use a screwdriver and a heat gun.  But, I'll let someone more grado-qualified answer that question.  The closest I've gotten to a 125i is owning the Alessandro MS1i but I didn't open it ever.

You can go to a crafts store get some silver paint and foam brush and carefully and evenly go over the lettering. Thats what I did it might not match 100% but it looks a bit better, one thing that really bugs me about grados is this paint thing. Replacing the cups is easy, use a hair dryer around going around cups (NOT INTO THE DRIVERS) while getting something thin like a butter knife to gently loosen the glue around the edge/ gap between the cups and the bottom half.

Bring your headphone with you to store and compare with what they got, metallic may have shiny flakes that may not match? But every brand makes there color diffrently. If you go with metalic make sure to mix the paint well so you get an even amount of shiny flakes and paint. Mine has not worn out since but then again I try not to touch those areas taking headphone off or on.

PS if the paint runs to the sides a little I just waited till it dried then used a toothpick to carefully scrap the extra off.

^ Sweet! I'll do that tomorrow unless my sister has a silver sharpie I can use. But I'll probably just get both in case the sharpie wears out like other people had said.
