I have a question though, the right side always seems louder, and I mean much louder, if I change the right to my left it still sounds louder, is this normal? I switched sides with the pads and it's still the same

Usually its the sound recording if its a more acoustic cd.

You'll have to use some mono sound to really tell it out. maybe you can try testing out with AM radio.

hope you didnt get a defective one. i thought grado's are carefully made and inspected before going out the factory.

Two different sources, I'll dig out my radio and check I soppose, it feels like someone is trying to poke my brain with a cutip

All the bass comes from the right, all punchy and the left is dead bass wise.

alot of the music i listen to is like this.....especially rockish music...the bass usually is on the right side. But really go check it out with a radio to really make sure.

Hey David. I see my grados made it over there just fine.

I have never heard of the problem you described. When I used them , they were perfectly balanced for me.

Maybe your hearing is better than mine?! If you think they are defective, you are more than welcome to ship it back to Grado. I have included the receipt for you as well.

I think my hearing is just broke. I'm probally just not used to the music being seperated as well as it is, or I did something bad, did you notice the bass being unbalanced? Of course I don't have a different pair of headphones that are of good quality to compare them to on the same songs so I'm lost. :|

No, I never noticed anything wrong. The thing I do notice with grados, is that the soundstage is very big.. Perhaps you are not used to this?

Try downloading some 'white' noise or static and listen to them through a computer. The volume on both sides should be perfectly equal.

Well if you invert the headphones (right side left and left side right), and it still sounds louder on the right side, then your headphones probably aren't the problem..

Might be headphone placement, are you sure that both sides of the headphone are positionned exactly the same? If the left side is farther back, might make the sound a little less loud... Or, I it might a a right handed and left handed kind of thing.. As in one of your ears might be dominant, and your brain perceives more from one ear.. Or might be the ears themselves.. That you're a little deaf from one ear (ir the other ear is just that much better

I found a post on headwize that described my exact problem and his were fixed by Grado. I suppose I will call Grado when I get home tommorow

If I change the balance on my soundcard I can almost change it to normal, thought the bass is still missing.

try a receiver. if you don't have one, go down to Radio Shack and tell them you want to compare to their headphones.
