Grado HF-1 #50: Katrina-Victims-Still-Need-Help Raffle--WINNERS ANNOUNCED!

Nov 27, 2005 at 6:14 PM Thread Starter Post #1 of 108
I was just reading an article about charities being worried about a drop-off in charitable giving due to "donor fatigue," as well as another article about how the victims of the Katrina Hurricane are still in dire need of help. And I thought about how I hadn't given much thought to the Hurricane Katrina victims lately (until reading those articles).

I ordered an extra Grado HF-1 (#50) that I'm quite certain is still unopened (I'll verify this when I get to my office tomorrow). We're going to raffle off this HF-1 to raise money to help Katrina victims.

Raffle entries are $10 each, and we'll sell as many as we can between now and Monday, December 5, 2005 12:00 a.m. EST (I'm keeping the duration relatively short at one week, so that those who win the prizes will have a good shot at getting them before Christmas). Again, only entries received on or before December 5, 2005 12:00 a.m. EST will be eligible to win.

Only those who have been registered at Head-Fi for at least one month (registered on or before October 27, 2005) are eligible to win.

There will be a limit of ten entries per Member.

100% of the raffle proceeds will be sent to a charity serving Katrina victims. I'll post which charity the money is going to after I choose one (it will be a well-established, recognized, non-profit organization that is helping Katrina victims).

After the winning offer has been selected, I will post the username of the winner, the amount of money raised, and, if I haven't already done so at the time, the name of the charity to receive the funds.

We also will give away two headphone hi-fi classics for second and third places: A new-in-the-box Meier Audio Corda HA-1 MkI (Mark 1) (U.S. voltage) and a like-new Meier Audio Porta Corda MkI (Mark 1)--both courtesy of Head-Fi Sponsor Meier Audio--to the second and third names drawn, respectively.

A maximum of one prize per Member will be awarded, so if you win the initial HF-1 drawing (which will, of course, be the first drawing), you will not be eligible to win the other prizes.

To enter, respond in this thread with the number of entries you are buying, and then send your funds via PayPal to paypal@head-fi.org. (I'm sorry, but I can only accept PayPal for this. If you wish to use a credit card and you don't have a PayPal account, I'm quite certain you can do that.)

Please be sure to mention your Head-Fi username in your PayPal payment.

Thanks in advance for entering. Good luck! Let's raise some dough for the Katrina victims, friends!

I always think of charity concerts/raffles, etc. as tricky because it's like... You want to see the band play/win the item, but you (well, at least for me) feel guilty about wanting to have said scenario happen when somone is in trouble.

I'm not sure if I said that right.

=\

PS. I have a Bank of America giftcard that I might want to use. Will that could as a credit card?

pne, that was a good question. Just send $10.00 per entry, and don't worry about the PayPal fees. I'll make sure that the number of entries purchased times $10.00 is what the charity receives, so, again, don't worry about the fees bit.

ricardo diaz, I'm not sure I understand the question about the card. If it can be used like a credit card via PayPal, then it can be used. If not, then, unfortunately, no. Thanks for asking.

Look at your first post above. Thanks for entering.

I'll post the numbers within your entry request posts after I confirm payment receipt.
