My local dealer sells 'official' (eg. Grado brand) flat pads for about 20 bucks canadian. Only thing is, they don't have the hole in the middle that the flats in the Grado pics have. If i were to pick these up, would i have to cut a hole in the middle? is this a new design or what?
Are these recommended for an RS-1?

My guess is those are the comfies from the SR-60. To the best of my knowledge only Todd sells the flats.....

imho i wouldn't recommend them for anything except maybe the SR60...and I'd still go with Senn modded pads there.

The pads you are referring to are "Comfies" - arguably the worst sounding Grado pad out there. The only place left to get Flats are from Todd the Vinyl Junkie, who gets them made from the manufacturer who made the original flats Grado used to order.

And no I wouldn't recommend comfies for the RS-1.

Yea, I was under the assumption that Todd was the only one authorized to still sell the old Grado flat pads. Don't waste you time with the comfies, they aren't what you're looking for.

I prefer the bowls and the flats for jazz and classical and the flats and the bowls for rock and vocal music.
