They do. Originally I didn't plan to buy my MS2, I just found a good deal on eBay for a brand new ones and made a decision to buy. I was so impressed with MS2 that after couple month of constant burning in I decided to buy MS Pro from Alessandro website. Latter one completely blew my mind and it's one of my favorite pair of cans. Not to mention that Mr. Alessandro was kind enough to send a package by priority mail express which got delivered in less than three days.
Yes, they used Grado's drivers and tuned the sound a bit, since the first generation. But I didn't know they are still doing that till now. I like the mesh without button
BIG SURPRISE: Without any espectation I gave a try to the "flats" pads that are also supplied with the new HP100 ( It is the Type "F Pads" that were the standard pads supplied with the original HP1, HP2 and HP3), and... they sounded really not bad !!
I enjoyed them more than the G pads... except for confort that is really "special".
--> Am I the only one here that prefer the slim F pads over the comfy G pads ?
Now I have to choose between the F pads and those blue one from Beautiful Audio.

Count me out on both. I enjoy the sound with the G pads tremendously more than the F pads. I had/have (?) beautiful audio pads but haven't listened to them with the HP100. For me they did impact the sound, hence I don't even know if I still own them. I'll look around some time and see if I still have them. If so, I'll let you know what I think.

I don't think it's going to be a good phone for BAs -- I have something similar I tried for a laugh and there's something about that conical shape that doesn't make it. The G is better. But you'll see what you think of course.
The MS Pro appears to be an RS1 with different tuning, but I can't seem to find any comparison of the two with the X driver. I don't really see many reviews of the MS Pro at all with the X driver. And that's with a Google search, not just here.
It's not totally wrong. Jazz, for example, is usually very well recorded, even the stuff from the late 50s. So that's not an issue. Take the GS1000i, it is quite boomy/bass heavy, but with Jazz, which usually isn't overly complex in the amount of instruments and in the mixing, that can be an advantage. You get a very full, detailed sound with beautiful vocals with Jazz, but it will sound crap with The Mars Volta.
* Please refrain from pointing out album "So-and-so" from 1982 where three bass players, four percussionists, world-renowned keyboard player HE behind his synth castle, a 100-piece spiritual choir, and Miles Davis cause a sonic mayhem. The Jazz I usually listen to is 3-5 man groups!
The GH2 and GH4 on the other hand, you can throw anything at them and it will sound great.

I gave brief comparison in another thread. Long story short they're both RS1, but with slightly different flavor. RS1 more peaky with more treble, MS Pro a bit tamed treble with less peaks and a slight sub bass extension. Regarding sound signature there're slight differences, with MS Pro guitar riffs sound slightly more fat, perhaps crispier (I don't know exact word for it) but I like how guitar solos sound on MS Pro. There is less warmth across the spectrum, especially it's evident with male vocals, on MS Pro vocals sound more neutral while RS1 gives little notes of warmth in the voice. Low end feels a bit different - RS1 tries to fill more space, while MS Pro is just about right kicking technique (I wouldn't call it sharp kicks, just sounds right with a bit deeper extension making percussive instruments slightly more prominent). And yes both RS1x and MS PRo x got a bit darker signature due to newer driver, not a big deal in the most cases, but can be a deal-breaker in some genres like EDM, while older generations of RS1 sound more warm and neutrally natural, newer generation drivers can make certain tracks a bit darker than expected.
MS2x is basically a performance headphones for metalheads, no matter what you're going to throw at them they still going to slam hard n precise making your head bang. MS Pro takes things on the next level with much better instrument separation and wider soundstage. So far I haven't listened to the most extreme metal genres with my MS Pro, but any good quality recordings basically slam with methodical precision. I listened to industrial metal, gothic metal, nu metal, melodic death metal, progressive metal etc - no matter what genre MS Pro just nailed it with surgical precision and enough slam factor. I also tried older hard rock like AC/DC, glam - Motley Crew, Skid Row, Twisted Sister, Ratt and wow it's was a real banger! Especially raw studio tracks sounded so natural and right there are no words to describe what joy I experienced listening to different mixes of these famous bands!
