If the HP-100se is able to accomplish a neutral tuning with G-Cush that is going to be quite an accomplishment. The G-Cush really makes it hard to get a flat frequency response. It's much easier to get a neutral tuning with Flat pads I imagine.

I also hope the new driver accomplishes that tactile, palpable, visceral feel of the music so that you feel it as much as you hear it (Atrium and Utopia like).
I felt the GS3000 while I can hear it, I didn't so much feel it (like the Utopia).
Moreover, the G-Cush places the driver so far from the ear, it's hard for the ear to "feel it" vs hear it.
Always felt the G-Cush was too deep for its own good.
To me the G pads do one thing right: hang a driver in almost free air in front of my ears. Yes, they don’t seal and make deep bass rather hard to achieve. Yet it makes music stand free in the room like few other headphones.
Regarding feeling it: I really dislike how the Utopia presents bass, kicking much too hard for my taste

HP1/2/3 is amazing because it combines neutrality, warmth, weighty and dense sound, high dynamic, transparent, textured and lifelike mid and sweet and extended treble. In the right system HP1/2/3 can be a very emotional cans to listen to. I certainly wouldn't want to trade away any of those traits for a better soundstage. I have other cans for that.

HP100 would need to be amazing in all the foregoing areas + at least Focal Clear level soundstage for it to be an upgrade to HP1/2/3. In other words, just having a neutral tuning will not be sufficient for me.

I await your impression and will keep my fingers crossed.

Re Utopia, whether you get any "tactile" feel from the cans will be system dependent. I think "feeling it" sensation in generally is associated with "in your head" sound, and is a symptom of inadequate amp and not a quality that I value (edit: to be clear, I am not talking about the feel of bass and sub bass in your body). My Utopia OG and 2022 throw a pretty big and 3D soundstage in front of me and it feels like I am listening to monitors in a small studio. HP1/2/3 can't do that....

Having recently had the GS2000e (and stupidly selling on), briefly trying the GS1000e last year, and having the OG GS1000 many many years ago, I’ve recently just bought the GS1000X…

I’m finding them quite boomy around the 125-200Hz range. Is this typical of these phones?

I’m considering pad rolling but I’m guessing G cushions are probably the best option here, unless there’s aftermarket options anyone can suggest?

P.S. I will not use anything resembling (p)leather in my skin. I prefer fabric (or velour if need be).

Thanks.

Joined the Grado club yesterday with the purchase of RS-1x.
Did a short pre purchase audition on a Dave just to check out the extent of the model specific negatives buried within the various Grado threads. The Dave is a phenomenal DAC and a major distraction but it did the job as my immediate needs were minimal. The real test is running them in on the home setups and there is no way I could risk getting attached to a Dave. Out of the box these cans made my Phonitor xe sound rather poor. Ear piercing highs on female vocals and trumpets. Elements of female vocals sounded almost masculine as if the drivers were being constrained. An odd experience. The bass was limited but not so much as some users have suggested… A few hours in and a switch to tubes with a MHA200 brought much more satisfying results. More time and a switch to a Woo WA22 and they start to shine. I now have about 8 hours of active listening with them and have gone back to the Phonitor. They are nearing superb. I am regretting not trying Grado earlier in my audio journey. Listening fatigue is a non issue. I enjoy bass and they dig deep enough to satisfy. Not my deepest diggers but certainly more than some owners have reported. Not the most comfortable ear pads but good enough to go a couple of hours. The headband and clamping force worked well right out of the box. The cables and overall ergonomics are quirky but give character unique to the brand. Love the woods used for the RS-1x. Here they are hanging around with some repurposed Cocobolo on my coffee counter.

Strietman CT2? Nearly bought one of these myself but ended up keeping my La Pavoni Esperto Abile.

Hooked the 325x up to the A70 Pro for the first time earlier today. I've been guilty in the past of underestimating that amp and once again it snuck up on me with its performance. And with that, so did the Grados.
I'm very fond of the Aune and HE6se combo and have used the 325x exclusively with the Aune for the first 40hrs. But I was starting to get the sense that the amp was weighing down the Grado due to it's tonally denser sound signature.
So I'll give the A70 Pro the next 40hrs on the 325x. There's increased detail and separation of the individual elements on recordings that induced several freakout moments as sounds jumped me from random parts of the room.
Maybe it's just the HP coming into its own after 40hrs use but that was definitely an even more enjoyable session than the previous enjoyable sessions.

Doug Macleod - Exactly Like This
Johnny Dowd - Pictures From Life's Other Side

You should...I have one...and it's everything you need for espresso excellence!
Ok...a grinder (possibly two or three :) ) similarly great, and that's all!

Cheers!
Espresso machines and all the related paraphernalia can lead one down deep rabbit holes. Not as bad as audio but bad enough to cut into the available funds...
If the local Grado dealers would actually have demo units I would have at least one less espresso machine and probably a GS3000X. That said the coffee counter is now full and the new HP100 SE looks very attractive. Looking forward to reading proper evaluations on them. Blind buy worthy? My RS-1X continue to hit above their weight.

Actually, I am happy I have not sold any of my Grado's yet! I am not planning to buy the new Hp100 anytime soon because I bought an infrared sauna!
