i was looking for one a while back without avail so i took it upon myself to contact Grado and was told they stopped making them like 3 years ago. Lucky folk that have them wont ever part with them. I would say, get intouch with a local wood mechant, have them make you one. (canadian maple is a nice wood)

yeah those boxes are hard to come by. I lucked out and unexpectedly obtained one as a part of a transaction for RS-1s on head-fi at a regular market price. To my suprise, when it came time to sell the pair I was given offers of $150+ for the box

sometimes you luck out and find 'em on ebay, but be prepared to pay for the luxury.

I never saw a picture of the box. Where can I find a pic of them?

damn. my chances do not look good. i may have to get one custom made or comb flea markets.

there was a taiwanese hifi company selling 'imitation' grado boxes made of light maple some time back, but i lucked out - they had just run out of them and dont sell them anymore.

it's quite unfortunate, really, that john grado sells his headphones in boxes that look like crap - i certainly hope the money he saved there went into my headphones!

Has anyone seen or know the dimensions? I bought some real nice Mahogany and have a friend that is real good at woodworking. The hard part would be the foam insert but that could probably be bought from Grado.

couldnt you just use the foam that came with your paper grado box?

perhaps you could felt-line the bottom of the box too to prevent oils/acids from the wood from coming into contact with your grados?

Acutally, he's just being cheap. Why? The RS-1's haven't changed themselves or their pricing, but the boxed have.

well, i think he replaced the wooden box with the 15' extension cable and the 1/4"-1/8" adapter. not that that's an equal exchange, but they're useful accessories.

I use a Black leather cigar box with rich cherry wood inside lined with silk for my ms-2 (and have used for other grados). It fits the grados perfect

.

I was actually thinking of selling it because i'm thinking of spending some major dough on a new can. I'll see if I can find a pic or to of it if any one is interested.

of course you can. what would matter is whether your stand has enough vertical clearance so that the phones wouldnt touch the ground when hung.
