HI: I am using the grado 225 with my minidisc and super mini amp with a metaport on the way. The sound is fantastic. Would the RS1 sound better with this rig? If so how much better. If I buy the RS1 it will be for portable use.

Lou,
I can't really say on the RS-1, but I'm sure that the SR-225 sounds sweet. According to what I've read here, RS-1 should be more neutral, sweeter, and probably more laid back. You might want to read Duncan's impression on SR-325 and RS-1. Do a search and hopefully, you will find the answer. Congrat on the new pair of headphones.

HI: How are you. After getting the SR 225 I am fascinated with the great sound that I am getting. So of course I right away think of the RS1. My problem is that for 200.00 the 225 sound great. I can get the RS1 for 600.00 new but will it sound 3 times better or even a lot better that the 225? Should I stop here with the 225 and be happy or go for the RS1 into unknown territory?

3x....nope...no way.. Maybe HP-1000 series is probably...and is the only way out for you. According to the their owner, HP-1s are probably the best dynamics headphone in planet.

Would be iffy. got 50/50 chance.

esp. fed digital source off portable mp3 or cd player with no dedicated amp would make rs1 bright and muddy at the same time is my guess.

Yes, I agree with Nick...

The 225s are (as you say) probably great for portable use... but the RS1s would be complete and total overkill, and you would end up wasting most of their potential by having less than top quality electronics further down the chain...

Unless you want the RS1s to strap onto the end of your Gilmore, stick with the SR225s, and be assured that they're a great set of cans

HI: How are you? OK I will keep my 225 and forget about the RS1. Thank you for your response.
