Not all that impressed! I have been an avid shuffle 1g user for about 2 years now and think that the device is perfect other than the lack of a screen and the fairly small storage space. So I noticed recently that there were these deals on the 8GB clip and thought, with all the praise its been getting, I'de jump on it as well! Now I'm not saying that the clip is bad. It is a good bang for buck type of player, very small and compact, has a radio, can record (good for lectures) and there is ample space for a decent music collection. However, sound wise, it just can't quite match the detail that I seem to get from my shuffle. Everything is there, but it just sounds a little bit rounded at the edges, rather than being able to produce a clear note from start to finish. I think that I have been a little spoilt by the ety 4's that I have as they are the most detailed IEM's I have heard. However it wasn't just with the ety's that I noticed the difference, as I now tend to use a pair of ATH-ES55's (mostly due to convenience) and the difference is also apparent with them. I feel as though I will never find something as small as the shuffle that can match its sound quality (I even think it sounds better than a Cowon Q5W I used to own). So, the clip is great, but not quite as good as some people may make it out to be (perhaps they haven't heard a shuffle yet?

I have two clips, and I agree. The SQ is not on the same level as the Touch, for example, or the Sony A818. And the EQ really isn't very good. Great form factor, but as far as SQ, I think they are just average or a bit above. But not as good as the Touch or Sony.

sansa clip is overated. It's good for its price.
I tested it for two weeks and return it for refund.

I wish you could have just made the topic "Got the sansa clip recently and not very impressed" so I didn't have to click on the topic to find out it's absolutely nothing I care about.

I hate it when people make these vague topics that you have to click on just to figure out what it's about..

The topic could lead you into any number of possible finishes:

"Got the sansa clip recently and it came pre-loaded with a bunch of crap music on it. It must've been someone's return!"

"Got the sansa clip recently and I realized it's nowhere as good as my Cowon iAudio 7"

"Got the sansa clip recently and managed to get a buy one-get one free deal!"

Etc. Bleh.

^that's funny....but I must agree. I recently bought a clip for my daughter's birthday and played around with it a bit and found the sound good...not as good as my Sony or Zune but it is what it is....a decent low cost MP3 player.

I find that I like the sound more than any player I've owned. I prefer it to the Zune (30GB), HD5 and the others in my signature. Different strokes, I guess.

I do want to hear that 1g Shuffle, though.

Just got the 8BG clip this week for little over $50 from Walmart and has been very impressed with it. Of course, the sound quality can be a bit better but I still think that it still sounds quite good out of my Shure E500. For the price and its size (and screen), Its is quite a bargain. I actually bought the darn thing for its recording capability for my meetings.

Ever since I put a FiiO E5 on the clip it really brought out the sound of my X10s (I do not use the bass boost feature on my Fiio).

If you hover over a topic you can see the first few sentences, so that remedies that I guess.

I have a 2GB red Clip, with change from £25 from Amazon. I think its better than my 4G Nano SQ wise (search for thread). I am waiting for my Senn PMX 80 to turn up then will do a running comparison between them (also the Senn as running headphones more than anything)
Might pick up a 2G Shuffle on refurb in the interests of parity

I have a 1g nano and a cowon s9, the clip is imo by far better in sq than the nano, the nano sounds clouded and muffled while the clip is balanced, very natural and presents the soundstage imo as it should be heard.

Initally i thought it even bested my s9 but after playing for a while with the eq it isn't the s9 has better sq the clip is just a bit lacking in warmth, the players compliment each other great depending on my mood, the sleeks can sound cold at times, when i tire of it the s9 gets to play.

Either way it's great for gym use, plenty of storage, good battery life and i don't have to worry about dropping the thing, it's hard as nails.

That's good to know - I just ordered an E5 for my clip today.

I haven't heard a lot of other players (zune, cowan, etc.), but I think the clip sounds pretty d@mn good for the price. I agree it's better than the nano, although the EQ could be better.
