so i went into town and bought an RH10 hi-md player. Yes i have been searching and asking questions about what i should buy for while. all i can say is i have found what i have been looking for. This player is really quite nice. the oled display is sweet, the sound is very good. and I don't know what you guys are talking about but it plays back mp3s just fine. i wasn't looking forward to re ripping but i fi had to i would. they sound fine to me. SonicStage was acualy working great, they have improved on the software alot since the first introduction of the netmd player. i was very happy about that. it is a bit slow sometimes but overall it worked withouth a problem. i used EAC-Lame for my mp3s, and i also tried Atrac3 plus at 64kbs and 256 and yes there is a huge difference... didn't even wast my time withg 64.. i put about 10-12 cds on one HI-MD disk and about 5 on the regual MD disk.

welcome to sonicstage - it seems to provide nearly everyone with the challenge of finding the path of least resistance/complete aggrevation. I gave up on sonicstage a while ago, now i use simpleburner exclusively. No hi-MD experience, or i'd try to point you in another direction.

Let us know how the battery life is on this unit. As far as hi-md goes, it's the only unit I'm throroughly interested in.

AFAIK the HiMD doesn't support 96kps. Only PCM, SP (292) HiSP(256), LP2(132), HiLP(64). If you pick a bit rate it doesn't support SS picks one that is supported. SS 3.2 has some bitrates for other Sony Products which also use SS.

Battery life on the HIMD is less than the NetMD units. I've only used SonicStage 3.2 and I find it simple to use. I've had no real issues with it so far. Lots of MD users are reporting that SS 3.2 is finally reliable. Most users don't have an issue with it.

on my computer SS 3.2 is working great. it seems to have fast navigation on my computer, works way way better than the first netmd player i had.

whats the best bit rate to encode at. i have been using HiSP 256 but its way big..i would like to fit a bit more on.
