over all im impressed with the sound for the these things. Especially since i had a long audition with a clan members dt770 stock 2003 model. The older the model was like 'wheres the bass' its was nothing more than my current a900ltd and ad2000s i had the time. I had it powered by a millet hybrid amp which is plenty of power and my x-fi as a source. These on the other hand, TREMBLE with bass. This is only powered by the x-fi(32ohms), its one the most sensitive cans i've owned, no amp needed as its plenty loud.

as a comparison with no burn-in, these are the best pc cans for me. They have more bass, foward like the A900ltd. Not as refined as the a900 and nowhere close to the ad2000 in mids. However the non-sonic features of the can that make it a keeper. I like the one sided cord. I like the case to transfer to lans and stuff. Velour pads are way better then the cheapy pleather ones that dont breathe. I love how they sound great straight out of the x-fi. I've had external dacs and better cans including the k1000. As far as these go on a pc, these are a solid 'b' which i can enjoy.

I figured it only a matter of time...
DB those badboys, that will bring out the mids and tighten/define the bass.
Personally, I cannot stand the stockers...one of few, I guess.

Edit: What other phones do you have?

I just ordered some myself, although I did not realize that there was anything more than a cosmetic difference between the pre-2005 and 2005 models.

Good to hear that they are sounding deece.

hey OP, can you compare the 2005 model with the older ones? i'd much rather buy the newer ones than the older ones (dt770pro/80 or 250 ohm), but am afraid they may lack the BASS that the dt770s were infamous for

the newer ones that i got are 32 ohm much more louder than the 80 ohm pro 2003 model. The new version is fine without an amp like audio technicas. The older ones are ok without an amp but i highly recommend one, even something like a cheap little dot micro ++ or a DIY pimeta.

the new ones only come in 32 250 and 600 i think, while the old ones only come in 80 or 250. So its up to you on the extra $100+ for new ones at the 32 ohms worth the convience, which to me it is cus i got other stuff too.

Nope, I didn't like the stock ones either (2005 model). Mids are way too recessed compared to, for instance, my Grados. Also, the clamping force was too weak and made the bass too lean IMO.

Now the Darth Beyers on the other hand

Also the mids are much less recessed.
