Through sheer accident, a Christmas present for me was revealed early. I'm getting a SB X7.
It's already been bought and paid for so, that's that.
What I currently use is a Creative Fatal1ty Gaming Headset for when I game on the PC and ATH-M50 Pro Studio Monitor Headphones when listening to music or movies by myself (I live in an apartment, so I can't turn up my speakers very much). Both are a couple years old now, but definitely functional. With the incoming X7--and all the deals available right now--I'm thinking of ditching the gaming headset and instead use headphones for gaming and a separate mic for in-game comms.
Question: what headphone is a good "step up" from the M50s that
...is suitable for music and movies?
...is suitable for games (top-notch positional audio)?
...is suitable for someone who loves to hear the details, but also enjoys some heavy rhythm and some bass (I'm not a basshead though)? My music collection runs the gamut from classical to club, with all styles represented. The least represented are probably heavy, bass-driven songs.
...capitalizes on the X7's characteristics?
...is very comfortable for 4-8 hours of use?
...is in the $250 ballpark or less?
Thanks!
