I hear Class A has more benefits in terms of sound quality than any other class. So, I think a good summer project would be to get a Class A headphone amp up and running. I have an idea for one, just want to know if there is something better. I really don't understand a lot of the theory behind the Gilmore, and I have never succeeded with bipolar transistors, so... I ruled that out. I am on a tight budget, so I couldn't afford the PCB. I was thinking about using OPA627 and OPA637 for input buffer and voltage gain stage (respectively) both biased into Class A with cascode source, followed by 3x BUF634T, followed by MOSFET follower. Why the BUF634's? I don't know. I have a lot of the T packages, and just feel I would like to use them. Would this work ok? Is there something better? My cans are Senn HD580. I currently have just about every opamp I could ever need in case one is required... Thanks
