Hello all,

I have a friend who is after a pair of headphones at around the cost of $100 (preferably $100 or under AUD). He is new to the audio scene, and I have had a mental blank of what he could get that's worthy around that price range.

He had considered SOL Republic/Beats line, and this is why I popped in, before he pulled the trigger on a dud and leave the audio world.

Any suggestions are greatly appreciated!

Cheers.

Might help to know what source(s) he is going to plug the headphones into?

He'll be using an iPhone 4S.

And preferably if the headphones are small/light-weight for gym usage.

Thanks.

The only one I could think of are the HD-25's, but obviously they are out of his price range, until I can seek a pair for $100.

JVC HA-S500 folding headphones, under $60.

Creative Aurvana Live! Those are Denon rebrand and just sound oh so good. They sound warm and full and are very engaging. Most comfortable headphones I have tried.

What would you say they're comparable to?

Not sure what I would compare them to.
All I can say for something folding and portable (easy to carry) and under $100, I think it's the best someone can do for sound quality (uses Carbon Nanotube in the diaphragm).

Also you can get difference pair of ear pads (Velour or Leather) for them for around $16, off eBay.
I prefer the Velours pads myself, on my JVC HA-S500-Z (Gunmetal Gray).

If you post a question about them on this thread, you should get some feedback from several owners of the HA-S500s.
