Does the thickness play an important part in sound quality of whatsoever? Some cables like those blue dragon ones are bloody thick and good looking!

I can vouch for RnB180. I have one of his prototype mini-mini cables in my system which is solidly built, great looking, and very good sounding. He now has the Blue Heaven that he's selling which you can find in Mall Fi.

Also Highflyin9 seems to build pretty nice cables too and I've heard good things about him as well.

Otherwise there are other very talented DIYers that may build one for you if you post a WTB.

Thicker cables may provide more shielding and may have fillers that will help hold the geometry of the braids inside the cable. But thick cables are also stiff which will stress the mini connections, possibly damaging your portable gear.

thick cables just mean more insulation. Some have braided metal shielding along the outter layer of the conductors underneath the jacket.

I prefer thin cables for more flexibilty and simple yet effective designs.

Which is why I prefer not to use star quad for my personal mini interconnects and my headphone recables. They are too rigid for my tastes let alone very heavy.

They are however excellent for analog RCA interconnects.

the other really thick cables you see like the blue dragon as small guage wire but housed in double flexed sleeving for protection and aesthetic preferences. The inner conductors are thin themselves. This does not mean that its an ineffective design. In fact Litz and tri-braid are excellent geometry. The thinner and the more flexable and convenient.

Hope you find what youre looking for.
