I just tried both the 35' and 50' with the iPod. I only listened to wo songs each. Joe Sample "hippies on the corner" and Diana Krall "gentle rain". The 35's sound more dynamic or alive to me. Both sounded good. I would give the nod to the 35's. The 35's seem easier to drive than the 50's. When swapping back and forth I would have to turn down the volume slightly when using the 35's. The 50's are somewhat more comfortable and easier to get on your ears, but heavier. Kind of Star Trek looking compared to the understated black 35's. So yes the 35's are better, but I wouldn't be upset if I only had the 50's.
i use etys with my ipod, er-6's. they were about $120 and turn an mp3 listening experience into something that can surprise me! i listen to a two grand set of speakers, my amp in kinda crap, but still... the ety's running off an mp3 player can be incredible.
r.
(plus, great for motorcycle applications. illegal but very happy...)
the 50's sound great and are easy to find but many find them uncomfortable i can wear them almost non stop but 4 out of 5 friends that wear them hate em.
For $30, how can you pass up the KSC-35's? I have them and the portapro's and I think the KSC-35's are the only pair that I forget are on my head. You have to make a cloth sleve over the plastic earpiece to make them really comfortable.
The iPod has a bit of power to play with, so you have more options wrt headphone selection.
