I'm a noob to all this audio stuff and I was considering buying a pair of beyerdynamic dt 770 with 250 ohms. I would be using them mainly with my galaxy s3 and I'm not sure how well they are for smartphones and if you can recommend any better headphones (over ear) under 200$ that would be great. Also I'm considering a cheap headphone amp if neccisary.

The DT770 would work pretty well for that, but I would go for the 80 ohms version out of an s3

Have you considered Audio Technica ATH m50s?  They aren't my type of headphone, but might pair rather well with your needs and are much more efficient (you'd never be able to drive 250 ohm HPs well with just an s3).

The E6 would really help to bring out the bass on those.  Other Headphones I would recommend are Koss Pro DJ 100s, better balance, more durable feel, and smaller price tag while still being able to pump out bass when needed.  I would still recommend the E6 with these, but at a smaller price tag less of an opportunity cost.

IMO I'd take ~$50 DJ 100s over ~$120 m50s any day

I'd say it's still worth an amp to really fill out bass, but nowhere near necessary to sound good

If you haven't bought the M-50s yet, also give the V-MODA M-80 some consideration. The white ones are going for $131 on Amazon right now.
