I may be able to go above 150.

I'm looking for a good headphone that sounds good without an amp (I do plan on buying one in the future, though) for electronic music and gaming. My bose triports (don't laugh, they were a gift) died out, and Bose is charging me $60 to repair them, so I'm just going to get a new set.

Thanks a lot guys.

Edit: I'd prefer over-ear closed headphones. I already have a pair of Etymotic ER-6i headphones for my canalphone needs

For an easily driven, over-ear, closed headphone for $150 you could consider:

Beyerdynamic DT770-80ohm
Audio-Technica ATH-A700 (or the A900 if you can stretch the budget a smidgen)

Both cans work great for gaming and do well with electronic music.

Equation Audio RP-21 is the best headphone I have ever heard in that price range and is also easy to drive.

I have not seen dt770s for $150 anywhere new...they are 200 new.

And there are a large amount of $100-200 headphone recommendation threads floating around and not really that much good information. The headphone guide should be sticked and kept better. Or there should be a dedicated thread for each price range/style or something.
