Hi guys, I just created an account on Head-Fi since I really have no idea what I'm getting into when it comes to headphones and I need some help.

The reason why I’m making this thread is because I would like to buy my first headphone. Currently I’m using the in-ear headphone that came with my phone. And now after a while I would like to have some decent headphone.

I use my headphone mainly for watching movies and listening music on my laptop. I want these for use around the house, so portability or noise cancellation isn't a big deal. My main concern is sound quality and detail, everything else is less important. They should also be reasonably comfortable for a few hours of use at a time.

My budget is at around 150 euros.

And I was wondering if I need an amp for my use?

Thanks in advance.

Heya,

An amp is only needed if the headphone requires one. Not all do. Amps are not an essential thing. Sounds to me like you need something relatively low impedance and easy to drive to avoid the cost of an amp, as it simply adds to cost on your end, and your budget is better spent on simply getting a good headphone right now that will work from your phone and laptop without extra devices.

Look into:

AudioTechnica A900X & AD900X
AKG K167, K267, K550
Beyer DT770 PRO LE 32ohm
Vmoda M100
Sony MA900
Brainwavz HM5
Ultrasone HFI 780
Hifiman HE-300
SoundMAGIC HP100
Logitech UE6000

Very best,

Very best,

a900x and Akg K550 I enjoyed very much. Trying to get a hold of the Sound Magic HP 100 as well to hear it. Still all good recommendations! The a900x can get REALLY cheap here in the US. Not sure how that translate to Europe though
