well i'm not 100% with you, but they do get criticized for the heavy bass. but i'v put them against a 2 Sony rivals, technics and M.O.S. headphones, and the sennheiser always came out on top, regardless of the heavy bass. the nearest to them was the Technics.

Don't listens to the gaming noobs jk, you should really look into something like a Sennheiser HD485. They go for around $60-70. They don't need an amp, have good soundstage and bass. They are open BTW so if you need the isolation of closed cans then I'd look elsewhere.
