My 3 1/2 year old Garmin 2610 GPS is giving me problems ... won't allow me to key in letters on the far left side of screen ... so before I sent it in for repair, I thought I'd check ebay to see if I could get a good deal on a used one. Turns out Garmin is clearing out this recently discontinued model right now and there are a bunch of ebay listings for it at this moment.

Some are new, some are refurbished, and all are selling for around $200 to $220 U.S. and all come with a 1 year factory warranty. This model doesn't offer 3d mapping, but it does have some features the newer, cheaper priced models don't ... such as this model is water/weather proof....something I think is a good thing in a car environment. Plus you can easily move it between cars. You can even get a motorcycle mount for it. It originally sold for $900 U.S.

Like I said, there are several places clearing these out right now, but RadioWorld in Toronto is where I purchased my original unit ( at their brick and morter store ) and it was probably the most enjoyable purchase experience I ever had. Everyone there is knowledgeable and friendly. Plus, they ship from both Toronto and Buffalo so for U.S. and Canadian buyers there would be no border hassles/expenses. Plus, the units ship with v7 maps but because RadioWorld is an authorized Garmin dealer, you get a free upgrade to the latest v8.

I've had good luck buying refurbished equipment in the past because it often gets QC'd better than new equipment. I've ordererd one of these instead of sending my old one in for repair, and since their ebay ad has a "make and offer" option, I've offered $175. Even if they don't accept my first offer, at less than $200 , it's a great deal IMO. If you're looking to get a good quality GPS at a very good price, this is it.
