Hi everyone. Unfortunately, I am a newbie to the headphone world. Only over the past week or so have I begun looking at headphones. I am just looking for a recommendation on a pair of headphones for around 80 to 100 dollars (under 120 for sure - after shipping and everything else). Here are some specifications I am looking for:

- Good sound quality - no emphasized bass, etc.

- comfort - just to be able to wear them for 3 or 4 hrs straight.

- It would be nice if I did not have to buy an amplifier, but I will if it seems to be worth the extra money.

- I would like it to block most sound in and out - I dont want to annoy others in a quiet room, say, but I want to know if someone is trying to get my attention

Thank you in advance for any help/information/recommendations

Jason

Sony D66SL Eggos. $99 includes shipping. To my ears, they meet all of your requirements. They are available from Audiocubes.com, but they are backordered. Should be in by the end of the week.
BTW....welcome to Head-Fi, verify_reality.

Thanks for the quick response. Here are some others I was looking at:

- Grado SR80 - many say excellent audio quality, but uncomfortable and let much sound in/out

- Senn HD280/HD 570 - I may need an amp, cuts out all sounds

- These Sony Eggos D66SLs - Many reviewers say they dont care for "bassy feel" of many sonys (I havent viewed this model in specific)

I havent heard much about the sonys (maybe b/c i havent went out and looked for them yet, I will do that now), so I am hesitant on jumping right yet. I'd just like some other people also telling me that they are good headphones. Thank you once again, I really do appreciate it.

I don't think you will see the sony's sold anywhere other than mail order as they are not US model headphones.
