Hey,
Im am wondering what you guys would recommend for a pair of headphones in the $60 range. I could go alittle higher if needed. These will be used mostly on my computer for music and newer high end games. I dont need a sealed pair as noise cancelling is not really a problem.
Thanks,
Tim.

avoid the sony v series, with the exception of the v6. the 7506 is the more expensive version of the v6. The two are identical, with the exception of the 7506 having a gold plated plug. If you were looking at the 7506 but thought they were expensive, look for the sony v6.

Ahh, the v6 is still over my limit. I know for my price range I shouldnt really care how the phones look, but the Grados are just too ugly for me. Anything but those! Nothing to say about the 497's? headphone.com rated them a 5 I believe and they held up on the few reviews I read.

I don't see how looks matter if they're going to be on your head. People who have the Enzo Ferrari love it because of the way it drives (not all, but some) yet I can't stand the look of it. Just...ugly to me.

People rave about the Grado sound...and to many, the look of it is unique and refined. I suppose if looks mattered then the crowd you're looking to impress will not be a very smart one. True fans will recognize the beauty of a Grado headphone. Like the Stax or K1000. Not the best looks, but the best sound.

Get the alessandro's or the sr-60. You will realize you made a better decision.

Also, the AudioTechnica ATH series is a good look. They're easier to drive from a computer, and have little burn in time. Plus, the isolation is better for gaming.

Exactly. Function over form, I say.

Plus, I think they grow on you after a while. I'll admit that before I bought Grados, I wasn't fond of the idea of looking like a 1940's ham radio operator...but now I think they have a certain charm and appeal. They're definitely different!
