Hey everyone. I'm new to the forums here, but hardly new to audio.

I'm in the market for some good monitor headphones. Mostly for use in live settings, but I do occasional studio work as well.

A friend of mine has a pair of Sony MDR-V9's that I've always liked. I've been debating between the V9's and the V6's. Mainly, I'm still not quite convinced the V9's are of good enough quality to justify spending ~$200 for 7509's (I can't seem to find "V9's" any more) over the ~$30 I could spend on the V6's.

With that said, if there are any other headphones you'd recommend for what I'm looking for, feel free to suggest.

Thanks.

PS - The reason I'm leaning toward them is because they're fairly analytical, durable, and honestly, I've had more experience with them. I'm looking for monitors, not easy listenin' phones.

I'm in the middle of a MDR-V6 VS MDR-7506 research type of battle at the moment, so I can't be of much help....yet!

But the V6 gets lots of good words here!

....not as many good words since they changed their manufacturing facility. I'm trying to locate similar info for the 7506.
