Is there a sound difference weither if your plug for your cans are silver or gold?

Does the GOLD one sounds better than the silver?

I personally don't like the silver one too much cuz den it gets all this dirt or something on it that i can't take out..

HI: I think that they both sound the same. The gold is a better connector than nickel plated (silver) and the gold does not tarnish as fast as the silver. But as far as sound goes they both sound the same, I think.

That's absolutely what i think. Gold plugs make me believe that the headphone is of quality, even though there is plenty of garbage out there will gold plugs. O yeh I have the mx500, WERE IS MY GOLD PLUG bahhhhhh

No difference between the two. Its a marketing gimick. My 10 year old gold connectors look more faded than any of my nickle connectors. Using a some what coarse pencil eraser has always worked for me when it comes to cleaning surfaces. The erasers meant for erasible ink pens work the best.

The gold connectors I have are all faded too. I am not sure why, but my guess is that the gold plating had impurities in it that rust or tarnish. Maybe the gold gets scratched from usage and it doesn't look the same.

Most silvery looking plugs are nickel, acual silverplate plugs are rare.

As for sonic differences, there are none. Phono and mini plugs shouldn't matter, as the friction of inserting and removing the plug should clean up the oxides. For RCA plugs, i like using gold, although in truth, it doesn't really matter

gold = corrosion protection

you see, the difference is that more often than not the muck on gold plated jacks form ON the jack, as opposed to the muck on nickel jacks being PART OF the jack.
