Hey guys,

I'm going to be daring and recable a few headphones tomorrow night. Mainly the K701, K601, DT880, D5000. All will be recabled using Nucleotide with a litz/quad braid style in 6ft lengths.

I have never touched a beyer and was going to ask you guys for some tips. They use a common ground on each cup right? Also how do I remove the leather headband from them?

Got the headband off. Came off like a Ziplock bag.

Yep headband is trivial to remove.
If you search you'll find a thread where a guy posted pics of what he did.
If you want to go dual entry you'll have to drill a small hole in the right cup plastic

I'm gonna do it myself very soon... just trying to decided what to use for strain relief/grommit on the other cup.

Guys I need dire help now. I cut off all the wires and now don't know which pins are which... can somebody help me?

The left cup has 3 pins and the furthest to the right has a yellow line by ir. The right cup has two pins and the right pin has a yellow line by it.. Can somebody tell me which are which?

Lesson learned - mark polarity first.

If wires are color coded, you should be able to figure it out, if not assume any markings indicate positive terminal.

I don't have a dremel/drill at all. I will recable it using a quad braid eventually. That way I won't have to use L's ground for Right..

I urge anyone with a DT880 to get it recabled! It's a big improvement with this UP-OCC wire.

bah dremel's for losers. Well not really, but you can do it with a philips head screwdriver and a flathead screwdriver or a file. You can also use an exacto knife but becareful with that.

A drill/drillpress however is a modder's best friend.
