My three friends and I purchased tickets to Reykjavik, Iceland for 5 days during our spring break (Mar. 11-16). We had heard some great things about Iceland from friends on campus and stuff and after reading about Reykjavik online, it seemed awesome, especially being the cheapest plane ticket for places we haven't been before. Are there any Icelanders around here? Or folks who have traveled there? I have been reading online about it on the official Reykjavik tourist website and the city sounds awesome with all the thermal pools and stuff. Does anyone have any recommendations for stuff to do in the city (pubs/clubs/etc.) and outside the city (guided tours, whale-watching, etc.)? Or, if anyone hasn't been there, what are some better travel websites to go to? I've really only checked out the official Reykjavik tourism site and frommers.com, are there any travel forums out there I don't know about? Thanks a lot in advance

Reykjavik is a sweet place to visit. Be sure to take a trip to the Blue Lagoon and the public pool, which are geothermally heated. There are a few laid back pubs in Reykjavik that I enjoyed, but probably the most fun was trying to read the street signs after I had a few. Icelandic language tends to group words together to make gargantuan super long words that are fun to attempt to pronounce. The seafood and the lamb is very good there, but the restaurants can be pricy. Check out the Scandinavian style gothic church and the view from the tower, and try to get out of the city to see the volcanic countryside. Iceland is a beautiful and very different country. Have a great time.

A friend of mine rented an SUV and drove across the interior, splashing through streams, etc.. His photo album was awesome!

Thanks for the replies, guys. I really can't wait to go. After spending last spring break running around London and Paris trying to see everything without any planning or itinerary, I really want to plan this vacation so we see as much as possible without having to search for stuff to do when we get there.

First of every thing here is very expensive for you especially now that the US dollar is so low. Most of the bars are in downtown Reykjavík so you cant miss them.

If you have any questions just PM me.

You could visit Bevis, Ohio. Cheap to visit. No exchange rate. Just a thought.
