Alright, so I've found myself listening to a lot of downtempo/chillout stuff recently, and I need more. My benchmark for excellence here is Kruder & Dorfmeister's DJ-Kicks record, but I'm also well acquainted with the following (and there's some slight deviance from strict downtempo here, often into triphop):

Nightmares on Wax
Red Snapper
Mystical Sun
Theivery Corporaton
Phonem
Wax Poetic
a few others...

So yeah, recommend me some things I might not have heard of before.

The K&D sessions are perhaps at the top of my list, you have heard that album? As well as Peace Orchestra (solo Kruder) and Tosca - Suzuki (Dorfmeister and Rupert Huber).

Also check out Cinematic Orchestra - The Man With a Movie Camera
Boards of Canada - In a Beautiful Place in the Country (you would also probably enjoy the campfire headphase).
If you like what you hear in cinematic orchestra give - bonobo - live sessions a listen.

Anyway, check those out.

I've heard K&D Sessions many times and it's good, but not nearly as good as their DJ-Kicks. I should also have mentioned that I'm very familiar with Bonobo. I'll check out that other stuff, thanks.

Im not familiar with any of the bands you listed except kruder, and i only have G-Stoned, which i don't really like. is dj kicks better?

Helios is very relaxing music. It sounds a bit new agey or something in the feeling of the music, but it is actually really good stuf- very well done, unlike all other new agey stuff ive heard.

DJ-Kicks is definitely better. It was threatening to be the only thing I listened to a few months ago. I had to consciously not listen to only that for a while.

You should check out Red Snapper though. Their album "Making Bones" is FANtastic. Everything else I've heard of theirs has also been great, but that one's amazing. Mystical Sun's "Deeperworlds" is great, as is Wax Poetic's self titled album.

You may like some of the music released under the flag of 'psybient' or 'psychill'. There are dozens of producers, so I won't try to name them, but some labels to check out would be:

Ultimae
Liquid Sound Design
Native State
Interchill
Dakini
Backroom Beats

That'll give you a good taste of what's out there.

I have to reccommend you Low (slow core) and Tara King Th. (trip-hop at it's finest imo).

I bet you've heard of Royksopp, but I have to make sure since Melody AM is a fine album.

Blue States is another good group, Nothing Changes Under the Sun is probably their best album.

Kid Loco is worth a mention too, check out A Grand Love Story.

Almost forgot, Since I Left You by The Avalanches is a must listen.

I've heard a couple albums that are refered to as psybient, I believe. There was a Bluetech album among them, and a couple others. Thanks for the label recommendations, I'll definitely check them out. In the meantime, can you name an album or two that are stand-outs?

I certainly must recommend my music @ www.generalfuzz.net. I've been composing mostly downtempo electronica for almost a decade. I have four albums available for free download (creative commons) off my website.

I bet it would fit the bill. Check out the track "Reasonable Ability" for excellent headphone listening.
