Gilmore Lite -- End it all amp?

Aug 4, 2005 at 12:24 PM Post #46 of 51
I've been reading up on the SA5k's and it seems that most people are getting warm amps to tame the highs, but there are still some getting cold amps. Which signature if the Gilmore Lite? I read that the Gilmore Lite tends to be very neutral, so you'll hear the source more than the amp, which is bad because I only have a Karma and the SA5k's are supposedly very demanding on their source.

The Gilmore Lite is cold... but very resolving and neutral.

Azure, just keep the Karma. it's good enough. if you really don't need portability at all, the Gilmore lite will be fine. i heard a fairly similar DIY Gilmore Dynalo with the Sony SA5000s and it sounded rather nice. i wouldn't characterize it as cold at all, though it wasn't warm either. in closing, get the Gilmore Lite, get the Sony SA5000, listen to your music and stop the drama. histrionics get old.

I noticed the Gilmore Lite has "loop out" and I read someone's post about that being convenient to use if you have another amp. What exactly is loop out and why would one use it?

Essentially allows you to connect another amp to the original source signal without any amplification from the gilmore lite.
