I was just wondering if its worth shelling out for the DPS upgrade for Gilmore Lite. I would like to know what sort of a difference it makes. I don't recall reading a comparison between the two, so if anyone can chime in, it would be much appreciated.

Or am I better off selling the Gilmore Lite and getting the Graham Slee Solo instead for more or less the same total money spent

Most say the Gilmore Lite + DPS is equivalent to the GS1. Compare the GS1 to the GSS. I have the Lite and the DPS and the wallwart Justin supplies with it, but never bothered using the wallwart much, as I bought it to use at work (and ended up never using it there).

Thanks rincewind, would it be possible for you to compare the Glite with DPS against Glite with Walwart?

And do you have any links where there is a comparison between the Glite+DPS vs GS1 or was it just a comment on another thread?

At the moment, I haven't got the time to search (sorry!), but there actually was a very nice comparative review done within recent months. This must have been around last summer or autumn sometime.

From what I recall, the differences described were very, very minor, yet appreciable in various ways. The conclusion didn't make a strong point one way or the other as to which package (w/DPS or w/o DPS) would be more bang for the buck.

Another thing to consider is that you probably won't lose any/much money on the DPS if you decide to get one. It seems like most people who have a Gilmore Lite and didn't by the DPS end up wishing they had bought it in the first place, so there are frequently WTBs for this item.

OK, here is the review by Asr. Thanks Asr! I'll be wanting to read this again since I have a Gilmore Lite and Dedicated Power Supply on the way...

I believe the term is Ice Cold.

For ice is not cool. And I imagine you didn't want to exaggerate the coldness by making such a comparison so forgot to remove the 'ice' from your post.

Y'all can carry on then

I had the G-Lite with wall psu. I purchased the DPS and noticed no difference.
Got the GS-1, and never looked back. It was a solid upgrade.

This is what prompted me to upgrade over the G-Lite + DPS.

Do I understand that this review was done with the G-Lite with wall wart. No PS? Wow, to the bargain-hunter, that comes off as one heck of a recommendation for the G-Lite. I wonder how close it would come to its big brother withe the big power?

They sound different. Why? No idea, amp modules look the same.
